...I will actually update this thing.
No. Seriously. I actually HAVE pictures of my work (photography, drawings, paintings, wood sculpture... I've been a busy girl) to upload. I just...haven't.
I know I'm never going to be a full time artist, but dabbling is just dandy with me.
The update on the artistic front:
Painting: Still dabbling. I have a huge family portrait that I'm sketching out (picky patrons, my folks) and five canvases set aside for another project.
Drawing: Working on a storyboard-type-deal inspired by a prompt in class and an A Perfect Circle song. Still doing random-arse sketches to loosen up, and still getting sidetracked.
Photography: Will upload some pictures from the San Antonio Botanical Gardens, including a couple that I took in the Sensory Garden "blind" (Closed my eyes, found subjects by feel, held the focus button until it confirmed it was focused and shot.)
Woodworking: Took a class. Gave up. Dad was right, wood working is just not my thing.
I'm moving into leather working, now. My first major project will be a Jedi Belt, which I may post a tutorial on. Also going to work on some leather cuffs/bracelets. I've also picked up some patterns for purses, pouches, waist cinchers and gauntlets. These will likely get the same tutorial/walkthrough treatment as the Jedi Belt.
I'm also going to dabble in cosplay. It's something I've wanted to do for a while, but I haven't had the confidence in myself, my abilities or my capacity to learn and adapt. I've got a short-list to do, including a complete re-working of the traditional Jedi-garb, and likely a take on a Grey Jedi (A Jedi not beholden to a Jedi Council; goes with my natural Chaotic Good alignment). Also in the works are a Mother Confessor (Hope to have that one ready for RenFest in October), a Mord'Sith, Kara Thrace of BSG (Or a random Viper pilot, I'm not particular, I just like the uniform), and Liz from Soul Eater to join up with the Sad Panda Brigade's Soul Eater parade. For the last of those, I've convinced my lovely roomie, Kat, to do Blair. She's psyched and so am I; we're going to be each other's motivation for getting those together and double-checking accuracy.
I'm considering getting an Iceheart (Ysanne Isard) costume together and attempting to join the 501st, Star Garrison. I really enjoy the idea of combining something I love with something I really want to do (Charity work, and hanging out with other Star Wars fans). I managed to get my hands on a sweet pinstriped that fits 1920's Godfather-esque gangster stereotypes, so I may pull that together for something. Should I ever feel REALLY ambitious, I may pull together a Nightsister/Dathomiri witch of some variety and Sylvanas Windrunner. I'd REALLY have to get my poodoo together to pull off either one of those.
So, that's the update. Pictures forthcoming (ha ha... right. Not unless someone jumps on my case).
